Dr Kleinheinz and his entire staff is excellent. Everyone is very professional but still personable. They are interested in you as a person, not just a client. Whatever you are having done is done with care and precision. You can rest assured you are in very good hands. Both my husband and myself offer the highest praise for them all.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that replace natural tooth roots. Dentists like Drs. Kleinheinz and Ashlin surgically place implants through the gums and into the jawbone. Over time, the biocompatible titanium fuses with your bone. Then, the implants can provide support to natural-looking dental restorations.

Dental Implant Treatment Timeline

From beginning to end, the dental implant treatment process can take several months. However, patients agree that the excellent results are well worth the wait. Dr. Kleinheinz has undergone advanced training in implant dentistry and can perform most procedures himself at our Charlotte office. Especially complex cases may be referred to a trusted oral surgeon.

Planning

When you decide to restore your smile with dental implants, we will use our advanced cone-beam scanner and 3-D x-ray machine to capture detailed digital images of your bite. This allows our dentists to determine the strength of your bone and the ideal location for your implants.

Implant Surgery

Using your x-rays as a reference, Dr. Kleinheinz will place the implants through your gums and into your jawbone. We use a local anesthetic during this process to ensure your comfort. Dental sedation is also available if you'd like. We can place a temporary crown over your implant during this same appointment.

Osseointegration

After the implant placement, a healing period of four to six months is required for the titanium to fuse with your bone. This process is known as "osseointegration."

Abutments

Once your dental implant has securely fused with your bone, you will return to our Charlotte office so Dr. Kleinheinz can attach an abutment to the implant. Abutments are tiny connector pieces that fasten the dental restoration to the implant. Patients usually require a second healing period of a few weeks after this procedure.

Final Restoration

Once your gums have healed around the abutment, you will be ready to receive your crown, bridge, or denture. We make some restorations in-house with our cutting-edge CEREC® technology, while other restorations are outsourced to trusted dental labs. Either way, you can trust that your new smile will be functional and completely natural-looking.

Just Like Natural Teeth

We use crowns, bridges, and dentures made of state-of-the-art materials that perfectly resemble natural teeth. Even better, when these restorations are supported by dental implants, they will function just like natural teeth. Patients can expect to bite into caramel apples, chew on rare steak, and speak without any sort of lisp.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

At Kleinheinz Dentistry in Charlotte, NC, replacing a single tooth with a dental implant can cost anywhere from $1,940 to $2,500. The price will vary based on the number of preparatory procedures (tooth extractions, bone grafting, etc.) you require, the material used in your dental restoration, and other factors.

Some dental insurance plans will partially cover dental implant treatment. Our team can help you maximize your insurance benefits and file claims on your behalf.

For any costs not covered by insurance (or if you don't have insurance), you can take advantage of our financing options. We offer in-house financing plans, and we also accept financing through LendingClub and CareCredit®.

Caring for Implants

/

For the most part, you will care for your dental implants just like you care for your natural teeth. Brush and floss daily to keep your implants healthy, and make sure to visit our Charlotte dentists at least twice a year for routine checkups.
