Dental implants are replacements for the roots of missing teeth. They are small titanium posts that are embedded into the jawbone during a minor surgical procedure. The implant then acts as a tooth root, providing a strong foundation for one or more replacement teeth. Dental implants can also be used to anchor dentures and partials, giving them a more secure fit.
Many people who are missing a tooth opt for a dental implant. This permanent solution can look like natural, healthy teeth.
What are the benefits of using dental implants?
The benefits of dental implants are as follows:
- Dental implants are more comfortable than other tooth replacement options.
- Dental implants are convenient.
- Dental implants don't move or shift in your mouth.
- Dental implants can improve your speech.
- Dental implants can improve your appearance.
Who should get dental implants?
Dental implants are a great solution for people who are missing a tooth or teeth. Missing teeth can cause dental health issues, such as bone loss and malnutrition of the mouth. Patients who suffer from tooth loss may also feel self-conscious about the appearance of their smile.

How to get dental implants?
Dental implants require surgery to install. Patients will need to visit our office for a consultation with our team. During the consultation, we'll take X-rays and assess the patient's oral health. Then, we'll create a custom treatment plan for the patient.
After the patient's oral health has been assessed and determined healthy enough for implants, the patient will need a surgical procedure. We'll numb the patient's gums and drill a small hole through the jawbone. Then, we'll place the implant post into the jawbone. Once the implant post is in place, the patient will need several months to heal. Patients should eat soft foods, avoid smoking, and limit physical activity during the recovery period.
How long does it take?
Dental implants take as long as 3 to 6 months, depending on how many teeth are missing.
After implants are placed, they must be allowed to heal and integrate with the jawbone. Sometimes, implants may be restored with temporary crowns or bridges while the implant heals.
We will check your dental implants at each visit and remove any temporary restorations. When the implants are ready, we will place abutments and crowns, and your dental implant procedure will be all done.
What happens after I get dental implants?
After you get dental implants, you will need to care for them just like your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing at least two times a day, in addition to regular dental cleanings, are the best ways to keep your implants and your gums healthy.
