Healthy Teeth for Christmas
“All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. My two front teeth. My two front teeth. Gee if I could only have my two front teeth, then I could wish you Merry Christmas!”
Happy holidays from your Kleinheinz Dentistry team! Just like the song, we wish you tidings of good oral health and a happy smile! It’s the season of sweet drinks, sugar cookies, and candy canes- YUM! Don’t tell anyone, but our team here at Kleinheinz Dentistry has quite the sweet tooth! So, as we head into the sweetest part of the year, we want to share a few tips for how to stay healthy while responsibly enjoying the season.
TIP 1: RINSE WITH WATER
After eating sugary foods or acidic drinks (like alcohol or apple cider), vigorously rinse your mouth with some water. This helps remove food particles that often sit on the teeth after we eat and drink. It’s a good idea to rinse if you can’t immediately use a toothbrush. Rinsing also reduces the acidity on the teeth. When the mouth is acidic and plaque sits on the teeth, cavities grow.
TIP 2: BRUSH AND FLOSS
Obviously this was going to be a tip. Nothing prevents cavities and gum disease like brushing with a FLUORIDE toothpaste and flossing. Eating that gingerbread cookie becomes guilt-free when you follow up by brushing your teeth!
TIP 3: ARE YOUR (TWO FRONT) TEETH HEALTHY?
What a year it’s been! Have you remembered to make your dental cleaning and exam appointment? We want to make sure that you feel comfortable visiting our office during COVID, which is why we’re regularly updating our protocols to keep you safe (https://www.kleinheinzdentistry.com/contents/covid-update ). Changes in your oral health status can occur quickly, so having regular check-ups is vital to maintaining strong teeth and healthy gums! Give us a call at 704-542-6003 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or to make an appointment.
